Os logaritmos são uma invenção do século 17 atribuidos
a John Napier of Merchiston que viveu entre 1550 e 1617.
Eu não conheço a história da descoberta dos logaritmos e é possível
que você a encontre na wikipedia. Aqui interessa-me mostrar como
foram inventados os logaritmos, e estou fantasiando a história,
é o que eles significam para os dias
de hoje. Vou inclusive mostrar-lhe um programa de computador que
gera uma tabela de logaritmos, com a base de sua escolha. Vou terminar com a
descrição do logaritmo complexo que é definido para números negativos
e mostrar porque continua não definido para zero.

Logarithm is an invention of 17th century attributed to
John Napier of Merchiston born 1550 and died in 1617. I do not
know the details of this invention and probably you can look it
a Wikipedia in better details than those I can give you. Here
I am interested into show the way they were invented from the
point of view of today's knowledge and what they mean for today's
science. You'll have a program which you can use to construct
your own logarithm table using your choice of the base.To finish I
am defining the complex case of logarithm which gives answers of some
restrictions that real logarithm is submitted to.
